I Capitan!....

So Jack Sparrow is postmodern. hmmm i wonder why. lets see throught what ive seen of the movie everyone else seems to be sober and well hes not. But then again its been 2 years sence ive seen the movie and ive failed at seeing the new one so i haven o lcue what ot write in this space but im still trying. lets see what else can i remeber other than his comments to the colonials are clearly different and he doesn't seem to have a care for the guildlines others give him.

We are at sea?

so lets recap Rosencrats and guildernstern are on there way to england on a boat and Hamlet replaces the letter with a fake one comdeming there lives. Now there both on a boat sailing to death, this could represent the fact that during shakephere's time America wasn't founded yet and if you sailed you would sail off the end of the world into nothign and die so all in all they were sailing to their deaths.

Ok os i was to break from this life that i live in that seems to be a rutine. Now in my house we get alot of calls and i mean A LOT! of calls from telemarkets. Now our normal rutine is pick up nad hang up in about a second now htis time i answered but i actually just had a normal conversation with him like if a friend called. After i was shure he was confused because he was trying to sell me somthing i clrealy didn't want but i decided to go on bunny trails and eventually we talked about our jobs and we each decided that he has the better job compared to our opinions but his job has the tendency to get more boring faster and he said this was his best call of the day so all in all i didn't buy anything but we both went our seperate ways probably never going to hear eachother again in our lives.

Why include the 'game of questions' in a movie about existence?

Rosecrans's and Guildernstren are lost in a world where they seem to have no memories other than being sent on a mission. Now they are asking questions to find there existence. Could there life be to ask questions. There mission is to find out whats wrong with Hamlet and why he is mad. They are surely not going to get any info if they don't ask question and thus there sponginess of life is meaningless if they don't ask questions. So there existence must be to ask questions but they don't know what questions to ask.

anti structure? or experiment?

In the love song of J. Alfred Prufrock he places lines to release himself from the structure of the rest of his poem. He simply experimenting and experiencing freedom and once he tastes it he goes back. Such as those who go out side and soon after tastes the cold and retreat to warmth. This is exactly like his structure he gets out from his comfort zone and then soon retreats back. He follows this pattern throughout his life and soon after he dies.

what does Ophelia mean?

In act four, scene five, Ophelia is speaking to King Claudius when she utters the phrase "Lord, we know what we are, but know not what we may be." (43). I believe this statement says that we know where alive but what is our purpose now. Now she can be compared to hamlet directly because in line 24 act5 she says to Girtrude "how should i your true love know from one another?". This can obviously be compared to Hamlets love for his mother and currently her father has died and that another similarity she has to Hamlet. So over all I believe shes saying i know whats happened but i don't know whats to come.

movie or the play?

I perfer the play because im more a visual person and I can tell whats going on better and adds a better mood to the play, unlike our reading in class not that we don't use emotion when reading or anything right?
But i do not believe that the author does not capture all the aspects of the film. But he does portray the over hearing part well but in unnecessary areas such as when Hamlet encounters Ophelia and nearly scares her half to death. Because in the book it states that Ophelia is talking to the queen and king about what hamlet did. Plus im a fan of watching a movie that is word for word from the book but yet it can be hard to interpreting what is happening at times or where scenes take place
